Explore Twenty-Nine Fresh Game Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Featuring a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)
Everyone's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel held at New York Comic Con. Is this a exciting addition or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you decide.
Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. Everything listed here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.
MTG x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before diving into the many unique products and collections on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking features. First, there's a new mechanic named Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where players can cheat powerful creatures onto the battlefield when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference in this case is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. The designers also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior game designer explained. “However on other planes, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it's more likely we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the expansion by TMNT co-creator the co-creator.
Oh, and, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing cards that aren't in your deck, so was I. Yet as per Wizards, it’s now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:
Following the company’s current policy, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it was going to be in standard and what other sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command zone rather than only one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander precon is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise due to popularity. Wizards told that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an extra thirty-seven TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 land cards.)
How will the TMNT version of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)
Typically, the company is selling a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:
- 9 Play Boosters
- 15 Foil land cards
- 15 Non-foil land cards
- 2 helper cards
- One Traditional foil promotional card
- 1 Large life tracker
- One Card-storage box
Pizza Bundle
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- Twenty-five Regular pizza lands
- Five Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- Two helper cards
- One Oversized life tracker
- One storage box
If you’re wondering what a “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s basically a reprint of an older card with all-new Turtle-themed art. The team showed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling toppings on a pizza. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. It includes:
- 12 Standard Boosters (the perfect amount four people to play draft)
- 1 Premium Booster (also known as, the reward for winning)
- 90 Non-foil basic lands (for building your draft deck)
- Ten Regular double-sided tokens
- 1 drafting guide (a single-page guide to drafting this expansion)
Cooperative Play Set
Finally, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to develop Magic products aimed at beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The general idea here that each Boss card grants unique powers to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
